Successful trip to Finland!/Vellykket tur til Finland!

I'm so excited and happy, and finally I am on net again, and have time to tell about it!

Sunday, May the 3de, Asaja and I started our trip towards Ranua in Finland. Ranua is north in Finland, close to Rovaniemi. It's quite a long way, with 1350 km and 16,5 hours driving time. =O We had a progesterone test from Saturday to go on, it was low (5,34 nmol/l), but had started to rise, and my estimate based on earlier testing and Asaja's first littter, was best day for breeding would be Wednesday. To be on the safe side, I wanted to arrive Tuesday afternoon.

Asaja and I had a relaxing trip, true Sweden and up to Finland. The first afternoon we drove 5 hours to our first stop in Bollnäs. A good night sleep a walk in the woods and, then on the road again. Monday we had around 8 hours drive, but we also had time to stop and strech our legs, get something to eat, and do some shopping. Around nine in the evening we had checked in on Piteå Havsbad. When Asaja had had her dinner, and had been running on the beach, she relaxed in the nice room, while I had a long relaxing time in the hotel sauna. Good night sleep, a great hotel breakfast, and we took the last 4 hours to Ranua in a stride. :-)

Beautiful Asaja outside our first stop a sportel in Bollnäs Sweden.
After 8 hours driving north we had our next night in Piteå, this is the beach that belonged to the hotel.

After walking Asaja a short round, I went in and met Sini, Juha, Knut (5 year old son) and of course most important Sako. It was so nice to finally meet him! <3 He was friendly and loving from the start, greeting me with joy, without any stress and no noise. We got to know each other with Asaja still waiting in the car.

I love his gentle expression
At their home there are neighbors and roads close by, and no fenced area, so we decided to drive a few minutes to a better area for the dogs to play around. But first we wanted them to meet briefly in a leash, to check if Asaja seemed to be ready. Well, things sometimes go even easier than planed. If you don't like intimate details, jump to the next chapter. ;-) They said "Hi" with a sniff, took a playful posture down on their albums for like 5 seconds, then Asaja stood for Sako, he climbed her, onk-onk and then they where hanging, for 13 minutes. :-D

Talk about perfect timing!

We where staying with Sini and Juha, the time we were there, it was very nice, and I got to see Sako in different situations. He is so pleasant to be around at the same time playful, shows initiative, and speed, but also able to relax, and shows a very big will to do what dad, mum or Knut want.  Unfortunately it was not possible to be much outside, it was still wintery-spring in Ranua, with lots of old snow melting in the woods, and the icy waters were not safe. Still I did get to see Sako do a little bit of dummy work. And we had a lot of time to talk about hunting and the way Sako work, look at some photos and video clip, all from the first day he came to them at 8 weeks, up to date.

He works in such a nice way, he is still a young boy two years old, I look forward to see a lot more of Sako in the future! And HOPEFULLY follow his offsprings in Multestua. <3 <3

Here are more photos:

On their second date, the happy couple had time to play around.

Very nice match! Keep fingers crossed that they will have a nice little litter of puppies in beginning of July.
Sako showing his good looks.
Working with good speed.

Nice, quick, strong, agile speedy Sako.
Sako loves to retrieve, dummies or birds, he takes it all. Land or water, doesn't matter.

Stylish worker.

Sako and me. :-)

A few head shots of the father of our D-litter:

Sako and Asaja liked each other very much. I think they are a great match. And I hope that they will have a nice buch of puppies in beginning of July. And that the puppies will have the same good health, nice temperament, excellent working abilities and looks as their parents!!!

Asaja are giving us signs that she is expecting. We will not do an ultrasound this time, but in a weeks time she will start to show. And in the end of June, I will do an X-ray.

Read more about the litter here.
